Bachata / Latin Dance Team
The SOULDEEVAS are proud to introduce their first competitive Bachata/Latin Dance Team for girls! The team will be based in New York City and will include young ladies in Grades 6 to 12. Dancers may live in any community within the tri-state area as long as they can make the commute to the practice location.
Bachata is a type of Latin American music that is rooted in the Dominican Republic from the first half of the 20th century with Indigenous, African and European musical elements. Young ladies on this team will learn to dance Bachata, Salsa and other styles of dance.
The SoulDeevas Bachata/Latin Dance Team will train to compete in national competitions and will also participate in talent shows and other venues. The SoulDeevas will work to strengthen the Bachata/Latin Dance genre among youth, particularly in under-represented communities by developing and hosting their own competitive events and will also develop and support competitive opportunities for girls.
Students who make this team can expect to be exposed to many genres of dance to strengthen their talents and abilities and expand their interests and opportunities.
SoulDeevas' Bachata/Latin Dance program is a rigorous program that blends high expectations, academic achievement, good sportsmanship, etiquette, health and wellness, comradery and community service with faith, fun and fellowship! We teach our ladies to project and accept no less than their absolute best! Though not a "religious" team, we believe in positive affirmations as an integral part of our program and our coaches pray over our teams before every event.
Ladies interested in trying out for our team must audition, and then present an application and physical once practice begins. Auditions when held are by invitation only.
Please visit the appropriate page to be kept informed about future auditions, and please stay tuned for added content as we grow.
